Children's Programs at Jesus MCC
Once a group of parents brought their children to
Jesus to be blessed. The disciples intercepted them; they said Jesus had more important things to do. Jesus was "indignant." He said, "Let the little children come to Me; do not stop
them; for it is to such as these that the realm of heaven belongs." Then Jesus took the children in His arms and blessed them. (Mark 10:14-15) At Jesus MCC, we strive to be as concerned as He
was to minister to children.
We offer the following ministries to care for and teach our children:
Nursery
Ages: to 3 years The Nursery provides an environment that teaches children that church is a safe and good place. Even the smallest actions - rocking them,
or reading a book - build important associations between a child and church that can become a cornerstone for that child's spiritual growth. Through our nursery staff, we can show your child
the love of Jesus. Our Nursery leader is Kelly Swigert. The Nursery is available at both Sunday Morning services.
Children's Church
Ages: from preschool to ninth grade
One of our pastors gives a brief children's sermon near the beginning of the morning
worship service, after which the children are dismissed to their classes. They rejoin their parents/guardians after the "adult" sermon, so they can partake in Communion, if you wish.
The classes are divided into age-based groups, and are taught by qualified teachers who use a curriculum from respected Christian publishers, including Group! and David C. Cook Publishing. The first Sunday of every month the children take part in a "Blast OFF" Worship designed just for them with music, dancing, puppet shows, games, skits, stories, and more! This takes place in both morning worship services.
Children's Choir The Children's Choir meets every other Wednesday at 6:00 pm. Here they learn about music while learning songs to perform during worship services. The choir corresponds to the Family Oasis designed for parents or those considering parenthood.
As is now common in responsible churches, all staff and volunteers who work with our children undergo background checks and an application process. We place your child's safety first.
If you have any questions, call the church office at (317) 722-0000 or email us and
we'll get you the answers you need.
