Children's Programs at Jesus MCC
Once a group of parents brought their children to
Jesus to be blessed. The disciples intercepted them; they said Jesus had more important things to do. Jesus was "indignant." He said, "Let the little children come to Me; do not stop
them; for it is to such as these that the realm of heaven belongs." Then Jesus took the children in His arms and blessed them. (Mark 10:14-15) At Jesus MCC, we strive to be as concerned as He
was to minister to children.
We offer the following ministries to care for and teach our children:
Nursery
Ages: to pre-kindergarten The Nursery provides an environment that teaches children that church is a safe and good place. Even the smallest actions — rocking them,
or reading a book — build important associations between a child and church that can become a cornerstone for that child's spiritual growth. Through our nursery staff, we can show your child
the love of Jesus. Our Nursery leader is Kelly Swigert. The Nursery is available at both Sunday services.
Children's Church Primary Class — kindergarten through second grade
Intermediate Class — third through fifth grade Middle School Class -- sixth through eighth grade One of our pastors gives a brief children's sermon near the beginning of the morning
worship service, after which the children are dismissed to their classes. They rejoin their parents/guardians after the "adult" sermon, so they can partake in Communion, if you wish.
The classes are taught by qualified teachers who use a curriculum from respected Christian publishers, including Group! and David C. Cook Publishing. The Children's
Church program is led by Angie Scifres, who is an elementary school counselor by profession and the mother of two young children.
Teens Class Ninth grade to 16 years old The Teens Class, which meets on Sunday mornings at the same time as Children's
Church, presents lessons that are rooted in Scripture and relevant to about-to-be adults.
Recent topics have included dating, responsible internet use, and a series on Bible basics using Bruce and Stan's Guide to the Bible as a textbook.
As is now common in responsible churches, all staff and volunteers who work with our children undergo police background checks. We place your child's safety first.
If you have any questions, call the church office at (317) 722-000 or email us and
we'll get you the answers you need.
